O’Briens, Winthrop Street

O’Shea Builders were conducting internal and external repair works and refurbishment to the upper floors of the building on Winthrop Street, Cork City. The ground floor was occupied by O’Brien’s sandwich bar which was to remain open throughout the works. As a result of this need for fully pedestrian access and protection, lower level hoarding was used for the scaffold along with central 3.0metre bays which are specials within the Cuplok/Turnlok scaffold components.

Our availability of such items meant we were able to erect the front façade without the need for additional bridging beams and support tubes, thus minimising the erection time on site and interference with local businesses. Additional measures such as debris netting were installed both to protect items falling out and items being thrown in from the pedestrian area below.
